Swiss National Competence Centre for Finance Research

In 2001, the Swiss National Science Foundation launched a National Centre of Competence in Research (NCCR) in the field of "Financial Valuation and Risk Management".

FINRISK has developed rapidly into a world-class academic forum for cutting-edge research in finance, advanced doctoral education and knowledge transfer between finance researchers and Switzerland’s finance professionals. The FINRISK network is managed from the University of Zurich and enjoys the participation of additional academic institutions in Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano, St. Gallen and Zurich. FINRISK’s goal is to develop a Swiss centre of excellence in finance.

Meanwhile, FINRISK has been phased out during 2013. > See brief summary

New Research Funding Structure through Swiss Finance Institute as of 2012/13
The SNSF funding for FINRISK will end in 2012. There will be an additional final year for the phasing-out of the existing FINRISK projects until October 31, 2013. The FINRISK research program is a bridge towards a structural research funding platform that the State Secretariat for Education and Research has decided to finance by means of a subsidy that will flow directly through the Swiss Finance Institute (SFI) as of 2012.
